 Autumn Term – Inventors and Inventions

 

Topic Overview

 

 A focus on some of the key Inventors – both past and present. We will examine some of the Inventions that have had a significant impact on our lives and on the lives of our ancestors. Pupils will get the opportunity to modify some of the inventions researched. This will all form the focus for our Parent Presentation Day.

Activities to complete at home

Home is a really good starting point fo this topic. You child could be encouraged to look at the inventions we are most relaint on in the home thesedays and discover more about them. They could also consider how they could be improved still further.

Visits to the local library or museums in Hull would also offer plenty of support.

 Spring Term – Super Structures

 

Topic Overview

 

 We will be looking to answer the key question – What makes a structure super? Pupils will research and focus on those structures of historical significance, that are major tourist attractions or that may have geographical or economic significance.

  The Parent Presentation will allow pupils to showcase the structures they have studied and in some cases built themselves.

 Summer Term - Shakespeare

 

Topic Overview

 

 We will be looking to answer the key question – What was life like in Shakespeare’s time?

Much our our work will be centered around everyday life for people of all classes in this period. We will also look at some of his best known plays – with performance being a key focus. A Elizabethan Reality TV show will showcase the work that pupils have developed.

  

 

Upcoming events

 The Reality TV show will be recorded and pupils given the chance to perform plays using puppets they have made.

  

 

Activities to complete at home

 Any research into the Shakespearean Period would be very useful. Pupils could develop puppets and mini theatres at home if resources allow.

 

 

Places to visit with your child

 

.Any chance to visit the theatre would be a real bonus for pupils.
