Attendance in EYFS
Attendance in EYFS
As a school, we closely monitor all attendance, including in EYFS.
We follow Hull City Council's agreement on delivery for government-funded childcare and early education places (1.9.25).
In the case of poor or non-attendance of nursery-age children, the following happens:
1. On the first day of absence, we telephone the parent/carer if no notification has been received.
2. Following 1 week (5 days) of non-reported absence, we send a letter explaining that if they do not use their funded place, it could be ended if they do not return within the next 10 days (15 days total absence).
3. If there is no response, we contact FIS and the local Children’s Centre (Family Hub) Practitioner to ask them to contact the family.
4. The place should be ended if the child has not attended in the last 20 days (4 weeks) without reason/approval, or notification.
5. Persistent absence is monitored and discussed with the parent/carers.
We work in partnership with local Children’s Centre (Family Hub) Practitioners to support with improving attendance.
