Our Nursery

The Foundation Stage (Nursery)

The Foundation Stage makes a crucial contribution to a child’s early development and learning. We provide a rich variety of teaching and learning experiences that are appropriate to the needs of the child.

The children follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum which is divided into 3 prime and 4 specific areas.

Every child is assigned a key worker. The children have daily opportunities for structured and free flow play both indoors and outdoors. Practitioners interact with children during this time by communicating and modelling language, showing, explaining, demonstrating and exploring ideas. Practitioners also facilitate and set challenges. All members of the Foundation Stage Team are involved in planning, preparation and assessment.

Prime Areas:

  • Personal, social and emotional development
  • Communication and language
  • Physical development Specific

Specific Areas:

  • Maths
  • Literacy
  • Understanding of the world
  • Art and design

Staff

The nursery staff consists of

  • Mrs Brewin (Nursery Manager and Teacher) (Maternity Leave)
  • Mrs English (Key Worker)
